# 1 is Endometriosis
1. What is
endometriosis?
A condition in which the tissue (endometrium)
that normally lines the uterus is
found in locations outside of the
uterus.
2. What are
the signs of endometriosis?
Abdominal pain is the major sign of
endometriosis. Other signs can be
anything from painful periods and
irregular menstrual bleeding to diarrhea
and low energy levels. Sadly, infertility
is often also a sign of the condition.
3. At what
age is it most common to get endometriosis?
Endometriosis can occur at anytime
between the onset of puberty and the
conclusion of menopause.
4. How can
I know for sure if I have endometriosis?
The only positive way to diagnose
endometriosis is by direct observation
via a common technique known as laparoscopy.
5. What is
laparoscopy?
This technique allows surgeons to
explore the abdominal area using a
miniature camera that is inserted
through a tiny incision in the abdomen.
Tissue samples are sometimes taken
during this procedure to confirm the
diagnosis of endometriosis. This procedure
is also sometimes employed to treat
the disease.
6. If I have
endometriosis will I be infertile?
Women with endometriosis often have
a more difficult time becoming pregnant,
however, some women with endometriosis
have no trouble at all. Everyoneís
body responds differently to this
disease.
7. Is endometriosis
contagious?
No.
